Abstract

452,689. Pliers &c. CRUICKSHANK, A., Clayburn, British Columbia. Oct. 31, 1935, No. 30115. [Class 61 (ii) and 61 (iii)] Pliers for gripping nuts &c. comprise a V-section handled jaw member 1 provided at the intermediate part 3 with a slot 11. having notches 12 to receive the pivot pin 13 of a second jaw 14, a second handle 17 pivoted at 16 to the jaw 14 and a toggte 19, 20 connecting the two handles and having its joint 21 connected by a link 22 to the pivot 13. A T-section jaw piece 6 has its web part cut away to form a tongue 8 passed through a hole 5 in the jaw member and headed over at 9 so that it can rock about the curved inner edge 10 of the jaw member ; the jaw 14 has a jaw piece 15 of similar construction secured rigidly thereto. One spring 23 holds the jaw piece 6 tilted inwardly and presses the toggle link downwardly whilst another spring 24 urges the jaw 14 and handle 17 outwardly.
