Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, March, 22, 1935]. [Class 79 (v)] The accelerator pedal 1 is connected to the throttle 5 and a one-way brake 10 which opposes movement of the pedal only in the throttleopening direction, so that while considerable resistance is opposed to the opening of the throttle the pedal, when released, is returned to the closing position by a light spring such as 11. In the construction shown the pedal is connected by a link 9 to a pawl 19 acting on a ratchet wheel 14 pivoted on the frame, rotation of this wheel being controlled by an adjustable spring-loaded brake 16. In a modification the ratchet wheel is mounted on the pivot of the accelerator pedal and the pawl is pivoted on the pedal.
