Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 30, 1935]. [Class 80 (ii)] In a motor vehicle a free-wheel tail-clutch 14 is unlocked during a gear-change, the tailclutch, main-clutch 12 and conventional gearshifter lever 24 being actuated respectively by power-cylinders 22, 18, 20, all operatively connected with the engine induction-system 34 by release of the accelerator pedal 30, which controls a common valve 26. The doubleacting gear-establishing motor 20 is pivotally mounted at 82 and is biassed into the second- and-high-speed plane of actuation, by a spring 80, against the resistance of which it is manually moved into the low-and-reverse plane. The direction of longitudinal gear-establishing movement of the lever 24 is selected by a heel or toe operation of a treadle 46, which operates a two-way piston-valve 28 controlling the gearestablishing motor 20 and also the tail-clutch motor 22. The supply to the gear-establishing motor 20 may be throttled so that the tail-clutch motor 22 acts first.
