Abstract
448,368. Engine cylinders. CROSS, R. C., 33, Midford Road, Odd Down, Bath. July 17, 1935, No. 20382. [Class 122 (i)] [See also Groups XXVII and XXVIII] In internal-combustion en gines or pumps having rotary distributing-valves 1 arrangec in split housings extending across the cylinder heads, resilient packing 9 is inter posed between the two parts 3 and 4 of the housing, anc other resilient packing 10 between the cylinder and crank-case. The compressior of the packing is adjusted by means of tie bolts 11 securing the parts together. Distance-pieces may be arranged between the upper housing part 3 and the crank-case. The packing 9 is preferably made to present a greater resistance to compression than the packing 10.
