[Class 7 (vi)] The sleeve valve d of a two-stroke engine is actuated from a crank web f on the main shaft by means of an eccentric strap g formed with an arm h connected to the inside of the valve by a ball joint h<1>, the arm h being connected to a radius link k which gives the valve an oscillating component. The sleeves of more than one cylinder may be driven off the same crank web, but in V-engines or opposed-piston engines having two pistons connected to the same crank, the two sleeves are actuated one from each of the crank webs at opposite sides of the crank.
