[Class 7 (ii).] In a four-stroke engine, to produce less cylinder clearance at the end of the exhaust stroke than at the end of the compression stroke, the connecting rod 3 is connected to a lever 9, mounted on the crank pin 11, and pivoted to a link 7 sus pended from an eccentric 6 on the cam shaft 5.
