Link-work.-In order to obtain quick movement of the piston valve of an internal-combustion engine during inlet and exhaust, and very slight movement during firing and compression, the valve is connected by a link 8 to telescopic sliding members 5, 6 connected to cranks 3, 4 rotated at dfferent speeds and in opposite directions by gear wheels, the speed of one crank being a multiple of that of the other.
