Abstract

144,452. Napier, M. S., and Rowledge, A. J. May 15, 1919. Four-stroke-cycle engines.-In a radial-cylinder engine, four cylinders are disposed in each of four planes containing the axis of a crank-shaft having cranks 180 degrees apart. The cylinders in a plane at right-angles to the crank-shaft are disposed as shown in the Figure, with an angle of 90 degrees between A and D and between B and C. The angle between the cylinders A and B may be 45 to 55 degrees. The order of firing is described in the Specification.
