[Class 80 (ii)] A variable - speed gear which acts automatically by inertia effect comprises an endless chain 3 passing directly over two planetary sprockets 4 rigid with spindles 5 carried by a cross arm 7 fast on a driving - shaft 1. Pinions 8 fast on the spindles 5 mesh with and drive a sun gear 9 fast on a driven shaft 2 in line with the shaft 1.
