Abstract
444,644. Dynamo - electric machines. ZETSCHE, J., 28, Carlton Road, Romford, Essex, and SUPRA ELECTRA MOTORS, Ltd., 48, Southwark Bridge Road, London. Oct. 5, 1934, No. 28547. [Class 35] In a drum wound armature rotor having open slots, a cylindrical closure of magnetic material is provided around the periphery forming a rigid non-extensible connection with the armature stampings irrespective of temperature variations ; for the purpose of reducing eddy currents the magnetic closure is split transversely into a number of separate rings as shown in the Figure or is grooved transversely or helically to a considerable depth. The separate rings d may have a width equal to two and a half times the thickness and eddy currents may be reduced by insulating the rings, for instance, by treating one side of each ring with paint. The rings may be forced on to the rotor against a shoulder e<1> on one of the end plates e. The use of a wire binding for the armature is disclaimed.
