Abstract
603,493. Commutators for dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and POLLOCK, A. A. Feb. 24, 1947, No. 9888/48. [Class 35] In a commutator, a recess is provided in one or both sides of its segments to interlock with complementary projections on insulated retaining members located between adjacent segments or in alternate gaps between segments the retaining members being held in spaced relationship by metal cast when molten into the intervening spaces. As shown the segments 1 with insulation 1b are assembled between rings 4, 6 of a jig or mould with the projections on the retaining members 2 extending into the recesses 1a in the sides of the segments 1 and molten metal 10 is poured in to fill the voids between the retainers and fill the space between the latter and the core 5 also the notches 9 in the inner edges of the retainers.
