615,070. Commutators for dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and POLLOCK, A. A. Aug. 22, 1946, No. 25102. [Class 35] The segments of a commutator are secured by casting a low melting- point metal into longitudinal insulated grooves on one or both sides of each segment. As shown, the segments 3<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>11</SP> each have grooves 8 on both sides, and insulation 5, 5a which separates the segments and prevents their contact with the cast metal 6 is applied as a sheet or in plastic form. The commutator is circumferentially compressed before the application of the cast metal which may be a zinc alloy. Specification 602,288 is referred to.
