Abstract
160,978. White, A. E., (Toledo Standard Commutator Co.). Jan. 13, 1920. Dynamo-electric machines.-Commutator segments are assembled round a metallic barrel the end portions of which are swaged into recesses in the segments, the operation being carried out in two or more stages. The segments 17, Fig. 2, and insulation 19, 20 are assembled round the barrel 16 in the clamping ring 24, the initial pressure being applied by dies 20<1>, 22. The plastic insulation 20 is then hardened and the operation completed, using greater pressure in dies 27, 28, Fig. 4, to form the commutator shown in Fig. 6.
