Abstract

444,078. Endless belt or chain conveyers. SAUNDERS, W. T., 404, Old Ford Road, London. Oct. 30, 1934, No. 31150. [Class 78 (i)] Intermittent driving- gear for an endless belt or other conveyer comprises a ratchet wheel a secured to the shaft of a driving drum engaged by a counterweighted pawl b on an oscillating arm c. The extent of engagement of the pawl b with the ratchet a is adjustable by a masking shroud f which can be set by a screw g. Further adjustment of the speed and extent of operation of the pawl at each stroke is provided by an adjustable crank pin e, on the main driving shaft, which is connected with the pawl-carrying arm c by a link a. The counterweight of the pawl b can be removed to disengage the pawl from the ratchet a. The driving gear may further be associated with variable speed gearing, or the ratchet wheel a may be interchangeable with others of different size.
