Carding-engines.-In an arrangement for driving the strippers, in order to allow the drive to be varied, the driving-pulley C is mounted outside the gearing by which it is driven on a stud a on an arm A centred on the cylinder shaft B. The pulley C, which can be changed readily to adjust the drive, is driven by gears a<2>, a<1>. The position of the arm A is altered to adjust the tension in the belt c. The gears a', a<2> are in mesh in all positions of the arm A. The arm A may be centred on a..stud carrying an intermediate gear to transmit motion from the shaft B<1> to the pulley C-
