Abstract

275,076. Glennon, D., and Glennon, T. Jan. 10, 1927. Carding-engines. - In a device for driving the maincylinder of a carding- engine, whereby its rotation may be reversed and its speed reduced for grinding, a driving-pulley A is rotated in the one direction by the same belt for both the normal drive and the reversed drive. The pulley A is provided with an adjustable key K<1> operated by a screw E, whereby it may be secured to the shaft S for the normal drive and freed from the shaft when it is desired to reverse the drive. The pulley carries an internal gear T and a gear S<1> is secured to the shaft. Gears P<2>, P, to engage respectively with these gears, are mounted to slide on a shaft P<1> carried by a bracket C secured to the bend D. The gears P, P<2> are moved by a lever F operated by a screw F<3> turned by bevel gearing F' controlled by a hand shaft F<6>. Specification 16516/03, [Class 80, Mechanism &c.], and 150,249, [Class 80 (ii), Gearing, Variable-speed &c.], are referred to.
