Kinematograph apparatus.-A belt gear device for alternatively driving at appropriate speeds two pulleys 3, 2, Fig. 4, which may drive the upper and lower reels of kinematograph apparatus, comprises jockey pulleys, 13, 12, which pass under the elastic belt B or A and lift it clear of the driving-pulley 5 or 4, Fig. 2, which is to be disconnected. The other jockey 12 or 13 remains inoperative between the parts of the other belt driven from the other pulley. Thus in Fig. 4, jockey 12 is holding stretched belt A away from driving-pulley 4 and jockey 13 is inoperative between the parts of belt B which drives pulley 3 from pulley 5. As shown in Fig. 2, the jockeys 12, 13 are supported on a crank shaft 6, which can be turned by a lever 8 between two positions half a revolution apart, and locked in both positions.
