Abstract

Sodium or potassium titanate is obtained by heating an intimate dry mixture of titanic acid or calcined titanium oxide with the corresponding alkali hydroxide to temperatures below the melting point of the alkali employed, say to 150--220 DEG C. When sodium hydroxide is used, a slight excess thereof is preferred. Specification 289,111, [Class 1 (iii)], is referred to.
