Abstract
A double chromate of an alkaline earth metal and an alkali metal is prepared by mixing, in stoichiometric proportions, the oxide, hydroxide or carbonate of one metal with the dichromate of the other metal, or with a mixture giving rise to such a dichromate, in the presence of water to form a paste and drying the paste. Drying is advantageously effected at temperatures between 25 and 300 DEG C. The preparation of potassium barium chromate is specifically described.
