Abstract

Potassium 2-hydroxy-4-aminobenzoate is obtained by heating m-aminophenol at atmospheric pressure with carbon dioxide and at least 2 mols. of potassium carbonate above 160 DEG C. in the absence of water, but with up to 50 per cent. of ethylene glycol. In an example a temperature of 175 DEG C. and about 10 per cent. of the charge of ethylene glycol was used. Specification 636,347 is referred to.
