Abstract
A compound for use in the production of thermionic cathodes is produced by heating oxygen compounds of aluminium and an alkaline earth metal, particularly barium, in proportions corresponding to the formula 3 XO.Al2O3.X being the alkaline earth metal, which is believed to represent the resulting compound. As an example finely divided barium carbonate and aluminium oxide are heated to 1100 DEG C. in air, reground, and heated to 1400 DEG C. in hydrogen. Specifications 272,440, [Class 39 (i)], and 436,527, are referred to.
