Abstract

An electrical insulator is made from a ceramic mass containing soapstone, titanium dioxide, and clay, the amount of soapstone being at least twice the amount of clay. It is stated that this composition gives a high dielectric constant and a low dielectric loss. Examples are: (1) 58 parts of soapstone, 32 parts of rutile, 6,5 parts of Wildstein blue clay and 3,5 parts of calc-spar; (2) 20 parts of soapstone, 75 parts of titanic acid (commercial), 3 parts of blue clay and 2 parts of barium carbonate.
