494,060. Enamels and glazes. GOODLASS WALL & LEAD INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and READ, N. J. Jan. 19, 1937, No. 1569. [Class 56] A lead-silicate frit, for use in making glazes, contains 63-80 per cent of lead oxide and from 1-10 per cent of titanium oxide. The use of the titanium oxide enables a frit with a higher content of lead to be obtained without increasing the solubility of the lead oxide. The two elements may be introduced in the form of compounds, such as lead titanate, which decompose in the fusion process to form the desired frit with the other ingredients. A mixture which may be fused to form the frit is composed of 73 parts of litharge, 23À5 parts of silica, and 3À5 parts of titanium dioxide.
