Abstract
439,949. Two-part couplings. JONES, O. C., 9, Mill Street, Maidstone, Kent. June 11, 1934, No. 17211. [Class 39 (ii)] In a locking-device for an electric lamp holder or adaptor of the type wherein two portions are held together by screwing one on to the other, a spring-pressed pin located in one portion projects beyond the wall thereof and engages one of a series of slots in the portion which is screwed thereon. The example shows an adaptor consisting of an internally screw-threaded cover portion 3 provided with slots or notches 7 around its lower edge, and a terminal-carrying portion 1 provided with a recess 6 containing a substantially U-shaped spring 5 one limb of which projects beyond the wall of the device. The spring is held depressed while the portions 1, 3 are being screwed together and is released subsequently. The spring may be in the form of a single pivoted lever which is spring biassed. In a modification wherein a casing member is secured by a flanged screw-threaded ring to the member which receives a plug or lamp cap the spring-pressed pin is located within a recess in the insulating block which carries the terminals, and projects beyond the wall of the lamp holder or adaptor to engage one of a series of slots formed in the screwed ring.
