Abstract

398,541. Two-part couplings. ELECTRICAL RESEARCH PRODUCTS, Inc., 195, Broadway, New York, U.S.A- (Assignees of Betts, W. L.; 167, Maple Street, Brooklyn, and Soreny, E., 161, West 94th Street, both in New York, U.S.A.) March 16, 1932, No. 7835. Convention date, March 17, 1931. [Class 38 (i).] After the plug fingers 24, 25, 26 are inserted between the jacks 14, 13, 12 an auxiliary pressure producing device, such as a cam 21, is actuated to increase the contact pressure. As shown the cam passes, on actuation, through an aperture 42 in the shell 10 and, being mounted on the shell 11, holds the two metallic shells together after they have telescopically engaged. The series of jacks or plugs is held loosely in position in each shell by screws 18, 19, and a spring 22. Cover pieces 35, 36 give access to the cables and are screw-threaded to grip the cable ends.
