Abstract

397,935. Two-part couplings; straintaking devices for flexible leads. BROWN, J. M., The Hollies, North Park, Iver, Buckinghamshire. Jan. 20, 1933, No. 2026/32. [Class 38 (i).] The conductors are secured to a coupling, terminal, lamp-holder, or ceiling-rose by means of a cap 6 screwed to the body 1 carrying contacts 3, and an intermediate member 7 that grips the bare lead against the contact and also grips the insulation between itself and the cap, a resilient grip being provided by the use of a spring 3b above or below the gripping contacts 3, 8 or by utilizing the usual springs in a resilient contact type of coupling. Where the spring 3c, Fig. 3, is arranged in the intermediate member 7 a sliding contact 3d is employed so that the spring acts also on the plunger contacts 10.
