Abstract

544,432. Electric battery torches. LAYPAK BATTERY CO., Ltd., BROWN, D. G., and PROUDLOCK, M. R. Jan. 10, 1941, No. 379. [Class 39 (ii)] A torch consists of a cap a adapted to slide on the top of a rectangular battery b, especially a battery as described in Specification 505,428, [Group XXXVI], and has attached to it or formed in it a reflector d serving also as a lamp-socket, and a spring tongue r. The normal position is shown in Fig 1, by depressing the cap against the spring action of the battery contact p and the spring r the centre contact of the lamp is brought into contacting engagement with the battery terminal n. When the pressure is removed the cap rises and the circuit is broken. Additional springs may be provided to raise the cover after depression. The cap may be provided with a lid to which is attached or on which is formed a hood h for the lamp.
