Abstract

439,834. Fuel - - injection pumps. NEVATT, C. G., c /o Bristol Tramways & Carriage Co., Brislington, and BRISTOL TRAMWAYS & CARRIAGE CO., Ltd., Clare Street House, both in Bristol. June 16, 1934, No. 17911. [Class 102 (i)] In afuel-injection pump of the type in which the head 25 of the cylinder 10 acts as a valve and the cylinder is moved axially to and from a seating 24, the movements of the cylinder are effected by a frictional engagement with the tappet 42 which operates the plunger 11. For this purpose the tappet is formed with an extension carrying washers 47, 48, which engage split rings embracing the cylin der. The plunger 11, tappet 42 and a collar 38 are secured together by means of a pin 44. The collar 38 is formed with a flange 39, which is acted on by the return spring 41, and serves also tc limit the stroke by engaging an adjustable cam plate 53. The suction takes place from a chamber 21 and the fuel is discharged through a port 22 past a valve 27.
