Abstract

438,260. Vehicle windows. ROETHEL, J. H., 269, Marlborough Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. May 15, 1935, No. 14246. Convention date, June 20, 1934. [Class 20 (iii)] A rear-side window for a vehicle comprises a glass panel 11 having an inclined rear edge 11<b> to which is secured a member 20 whereby horizontal sliding movement may be imparted to the panel in its own plane. The member 20 has a guide slot 21 for a pin 23<a> mounted on an actuating arm 24 which swings about a fixed pivot 27 on a plate 28 screwed to the vehicle body. The arm 24 is coupled by a link 35 to a crank pin 34 on a spur wheel 30 journalled in the plate 28, the spur wheel being driven by a hand crank 33. When the window is in closed position, the line joining the centres 34, 36 is arranged to lie above the centre of the spur wheel 30 so that the window cannot be opened by pressure applied directly thereto.
