Abstract
449,825. Vehicle hoods; vehicle - window regulators. GRIMSTON, F. B. S., Greycoats, Park Road, Haslemere, Surrey. March 23, 1935, No. 9109. [Classes 103 (ii) and 108 (i)] [See also Group X] A motor vehicle having a movable hood adapted to be moved between an " up " position in which it forms a roof and a " down position at the rear of the vehicle is provided with a movable window at each side adapted to be housed in a " down " position in the body of the vehicle and arranged for movement about a horizontal pivot As. shown the hood 1 is movable by means of side links &c. from the position shown in Fig. 1, to a position in which it rests on the tonneau 2 and a pair of doors 3, 4 are hinged at each side to a central pillar by hinges 15. In the front door 3 is housed a window 6 adapted to be movable vertically and in the rear door 4 a window 11 with frame 12, 13 is pivoted at 14 so as to swing as shown. The window is preferably operated by a link 22, quadrant 19, pinion 21 and hand crank and the window and frame is offset at 12<1> to overlap the central pillar and either abut against or overlap the rear edge of the front window 6. A transverse screen 23 with foldable side flaps 30 is provided to co-operate with the windows 11 when the hood is lowered and is adapted to be lowered into a housing 24 which is pivoted at 25 whereby the screen 23 may be adjusted towards the windows 16.
