838,827. Road vehicle body details. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. Dec. 19, 1956 [Dec. 28, 1955], No. 38767/56. Class 108(1) A vehicle body and coachwork comprises a floor A two backward sloping arches 1 and 2 mounted one behind the other on said floor, which arches are joined together at their upper part by the roof 3, a door on at least one side of the vehicle arranged between said arches, a bonnet 8 pivotally connected to a crossmember 4 joining the side limbs of the front arches, the cross-member forming the dashboard, and a boot cover 9 pivotally connected to the roof. The doors may be arranged to slide horizontally or vertically or to pivot upwardly on arms 18<SP>1</SP>, 18<SP>2</SP> (Figs. 5 and 6) hinged to the roof 3 at 19 and 20. In both types of sliding door the latter moves out of its frame before clearing the opening, the horizontally sliding door 25 (Figs. 7a and 7c) being guided by studs 22, 22<SP>1</SP> and 23 in slides 24 and 241 during opening and closing. The vertically sliding door is pivoted about an axis a-b, Fig. 8b, the upper part 28 forming the window support (the window is capable of being lowered) and being connected at 32 to an arm 30 which is hinged to the roof at 31; the lower part 27 being guided on the arches by stops 33, 34 and 35. The doors rest on strips of resilient material when closed and may be locked by an espagnolette system.
