Abstract

179,512. Botella, J. May 4, 1921, [Convention date]. Hoods.-The uprights of a hood for transforming an open into a closed vehicle are arranged to fall, when lowered, outside and below the sides of the body, to allow of which they are displaced outwardly from the body in the downward movement, the framing of the hood being jointed to permit the outer movement. The hood uprights 10, Fig. 1, are secured to links 1 mounted on axes 2 capable of rotating in bearings 3, Fig. 3, and -at the same time moving .along the axes, the translatory movement being caused by engagement of keys on their axes with helical grooves 5, or by other means. The uprights are hinged at 11 to permit the outward movement, and similar keys a, a<1> Fig. 3, are provided in the rear hoop 6. The hoops 6 are hinged to the uprights, and have hinges 15, while links 14 connect them to the tops of the uprights 10. The hood also has struts 12, and is attached to the front screen uprights 7. This screen is arranged to slide into the front seat back which also houses the uprights 7 which are keyed and connected by links 8, Fig. 4, to a bridge 13 which acts as a closure. The side windows are then housed in the doors, the housings having hinged lids 15'.
