Abstract

201,295. Windover, W. L. S. May 15, 1922. Windscreens. - CoupÚ and all weather bodies of motor vehicles are constructed with a frame carrying a window 2 with angled or curved side portions 3 positioned in a correspondingly shaped recess just behind the driver's seat, the pillars supporting the hood and next the door are provided with guides in which the side edges of the side portions can run, and the frame is constructed and arranged so that it can be lowered into the recess without having to fold back the side portions. The side portions run in grooves 7 in the side of the body or in door uprights 9 hinged so as to be folded down inside the car. The main pillars comprise two parts 10, 11 having grooves in which the window sash slides; these pillars may be folded down over the recess. The frame with windows may be operated by hand by means of a sprocket chain having a pin 19 taking into a slot 20 in a bracket 21 attached to the frame.
