Doors for passenger vehicles.-Sliding doors for giving free access at one or both sides to the seats of a motor vehicle are supported along their upper and lower edges in guides carried by the sides of the body so as to slide forwardly substantially in the planes of these sides. In the construction shown the doors a of a saloon car are adapted to slide forwardly into the spaces between the bonnet and side wings, and are provided along their upper edges with T-headed rails d sliding in slots in guide channels e secured to the body cantrail and along their lower edges with rails f fitted with rollers h running in channels g. The doors and guides may either be plane or, as shown, of a uniform slight curvature. In their closed positions, watertight joints are maintained by means of strips j on the front edges of the doors co-operating with recesses on the front pillars k, while the near edges of the doors are stepped at l to engage complementary steps m on the body frame. In the case of a touring car, each upper guide consists of a channel member extending rearwardly and horizontally from the windscreen to a point above the front edge of the rear seats, whence it is carried down to the chassis.
