Dec. 22, 1923, [Convention date]. windscreens.-The glass screens of motor or other vehicles comprise two tranverse panels 9, Fig. 1, each hinged by means of a rod 8 to a side panel 3 which is hinged at' 5, Figs. 1 and 8, to the corresponding door so that on folding back the transverse panel 9 the whole may be turned down into a pocket 6 in the door and enclosed by a flap 7; all or certain of the glass panels are arranged so that they may slide vertically in their frames to ventilate the car. As shown in Fig. 8, the glass is slidable in its frame 25 and is provided with a metal fitting carrying spring- controlled bolts 34, 35 adapted to engage with notches in the frame 25 to lock the glass in any position. The panels are secured, when the hood is in position, by means of the rod 8, the upper end of which engages the hood and is locked thereto. The recess 6 of the door is provided with a slot 43, Fig. 9, and a hinged guide 45 to receive the glass when it is lowered vertically. The glass may be slid by hand or by mechanical means, and may be combined with compensating or balancing means. If the transverse panels are not wide enough t'o meet, a supplementary panel 15, Fig. 4, may be provided which is mounted on a pivot pin 16 adapted to slide horizontally in guides 17 to partition 14 as shown.
