Class 20(iii) A car ventilating window extending fore- and-aft of a vertical pivot 6 is held by a spring-loaded plunger 18 engaging one of the recesses 15, 16, 17 in a plate 11 secured to the pivot, the recesses corresponding to closed, half-open and fully-open air-extracting positions respectively (the Figure relating to the front off-side window). On further movement of the window beyond about 45 degrees (the fully-open air-extracting position), a spring-loaded strut 23, pivoted to the plate 11 and slidable in the bracket 7 carrying the pivot 6, passes the dead-centre position and automatically swings the window fully to its air-intake position (say to 135 degrees or thereabouts), the plate 11 having a flat portion to clear the plunger 18.
