Abstract

598,064. Sliding windows and doors. BECKETT, LAYCOCK, & WATKINSON, Ltd., and CHAPPELLE, H. Jan. 18, 1945, No. 1536. [Class 20(iii)] [Also in Group XXXII] A sliding window, door, or the like, is acted on by a bow spring 17 having a portion 19 which extends forwardly beyond the abutment 18 of the spring to exert pressure on the sliding pane 14. As applied to a vehicle window, a spring in each top and bottom channel frame member holds the sliding pane 14' flush with the fixed pane 10 when in the closed position, Fig. 1, the free end 20 engaging the end of the pane 14 adjacent to the pane 10. The other end of pane 14 may be held by a stop 21. In the open position as shown in Fig. 2, the free end 20 of the spring engages the edge 22 of the pane 14 and a leaf-spring 23 engages the other edge, so preventing rattling. An anti-friction ball or roller may be inserted at 18 and the spring may be laminated.
