Abstract

478,975. Window regulators. SLEIGH, H. L., CHESTON, A. S., and STUART, F. J. Sept. 26, 1936, No. 26123. [Class 20 (iii)] The hand-actuated worm-wheel mechanism for a half-drop window of the kind disclosed in Specification 399,282 is carried by a bracket 22 secured to one of the side pillars of the window and provided with an integral recessed channel extending inwardly over the top rail 44 of the fixed panel. The worm bearing comprises an inwardly projecting stud 30, Fig. 2, and a screwed sleeve 31 on the bracket, and the worm wheel is provided with a bearing sleeve 24, Fig. 1, and is mounted on a round section of the rod 17 and connected thereto by a spring coupling 32 and collar 34. The end 37 of the spring and one edge of the recess therefor in the worm are inclined to allow slipping when the window is raised by hand, as disclosed in Specification 478,963.
