Abstract
493,234. Vehicle sliding - doors. ALBONE, H. Nov. 5, 1937, No. 30359. [Class 103 (ii)] In a vehicle having longitudinally - slidable front and rear doors 5, 3 which slide in guides at the top and bottom of the body, the front part of the front door 5 is provided with a lip or the like 7 adapted to abut the corresponding front part of the body to exclude draught, rain, &c., and the rear edge of the rear door is adapted to engage a vertical channel 2 in the body, while the front part of the bottom guide 13 extends between the bonnet and the front wing. The lower part of the channel 2 extends around the rear mudguard. A horizontal metal strip 10, Fig. 5, extending from the upper edge of the front door 5 holds the door in the open position and acts as a guide for the rear door which is recessed along its front edge 8 to engage with the recessed rear edge 9 of the front door. A projection at the bottom part of the front door may be provided to clear mud &c. from the guide 13.
