Abstract
437,522. Gas-burners of hand-irons. BROSTROM, F. V., 16, Feltham Avenue, East Molesey, Surrey and DOHM, S. A., 3, Gressenhall Road, Wandsworth, London. May 1, 1934, No. 13116. [Class 75 (i)] [See also Group VIII] Primary air is admitted to the burner 7 of a gas laundry-iron through registering apertures in a rotatable cap 19 and hollow plug 18. The gas is admitted by a' pipe 22 to a longitudinal hole 3 extending through a central rib 2 of the sole plate and the air and gas pass through a mixing nozzle 10 formed in a plug 4 screwed into the end of the passage 3. A thermostatic rod 37 anchored at one end of the passage 3 more or less closes the gas outlet 11. In a modification in order to prevent the gas supply being turned off completely, a plug having a conical transverse passage is mounted in the supply pipe and is rotatable within adjustable limits. In both forms the shape of the burner corresponds generally to the contour of the iron and the burner is located closely adjacent the inner face of the iron cover 25, a restricted inlet 27 being provided for secondary air.
