Abstract

426,278. Multiple - way valves. STYLES, W. ELLERD-, 9, Pentonville Road, Holloway, London. Nov. 21, 1933, No. 32470. [Class 135] A rotary valve 6 for mixing two or more liquids or gases in desired proportions is formed with two or more parallel passages 7, 8 adapted to communicate with corresponding passages 2, 3, which are independent on the inlet side, but are united to a common exit 4 on the outlet side, one 8 of the passages in the valve being larger than the casing passages. The valve is shown applied to a steam generator for supplying, e.g. bakers' ovens or provers with steam of variable moisture content. The passage 2 is connected to a pipe 20 bent downwards into the water space of the generator, and the passage 3 opens into the steam space. The axes of the passage 7, 8 in the valve are inclined to one another, and the passage 8 is widened at its ends, as indicated in Fig. 3, so that the water connection 2 may be completely shut off, and dry steam supplied through the passage 3. A cap 13 may be fitted with an indicating-device. The valve may also be used for supplying steam for atomizing fuel oil in a burner, in which case steam is supplied to the space above the fuel in a supply tank, and the pipe 20 extends into the oil space and the pipe 3 into the steam space of the tank.
