T.; 57, Lincoln Road, Brooklyn, New York, both in U.S.A.) Nov. 10, 1933, No. 31385. Convention date, Nov. 10, 1932. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v)] A pentode has two coplanar control grids 14, 15, Fig. 1. They are of the same size, and slightly staggered, and the leads are connected to caps G<1>, G<2>. The screen grid 13 and suppressor grid 12 are mounted between the control grids and the anode 11 ; the cathode 16 may be indirectly heated. An amplifier-detector circuit is shown in Fig. 3. The ends of the secondary of the input transformer 21 are connected with the control grids 14, 15 and the mid-point is connected with the cathode 16 through a resistance 23 shunted by a condenser 24, the reactance of the condenser being large compared with the resistance 23 for voice frequencies but negligible in comparison with the resistance for the carrier frequency. The carrier may be supplied locally by a generator 22. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also the use of the tube as a diode, triode, or tetrode. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
