445,286. Discharge apparatus. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. Oct. 4, 1934, No. 28448. Convention date, Oct. 7, 1933. [Class 39 (i)] An electron-discharge device has the connecting leads for the cathode sealed into a ceramic member which is separate from a further ceramic member carrying connecting leads for other electrodes, to enable easy repair or replacement of the cathode. The device is particularly suited for use with large power outputs at short wavelengths of the order of 10 metres or less. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a ceramic member T1 carrying the cathode leads K1, K2 is screwed into a ceramic member T2 carrying the grid and anode leads. The joint is made vacuum tight by the sealing compound V. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the part T1 is scaled to the part T2 through are-entrant glass member Z. The part T1 also contains the exhaust tube P which is mechanically protected by the compound V 1. Specification 445,285 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also making the member T2 of any insulating material, and the sealing of supporting as well as connecting means for the electrodes. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
