421,469. Thermionic valves. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. June 15, 1933, No. 17104. Convention date, June 15, 1932. [Class 39 (i)] In an indirectlyheated cathode in which a metallic tube 3, coaxial with and connected with the cathode 5, is fused to the pinch 2 so as to act as a screen for the heating current, the end of the tube which projects through the pinch is enclosed in a vitreous tube 4 pressed into the pinch with the metallic tube and sealed off. The other end of the tube 3 may overlap the cathode, and additional screens may be arranged around the junction. The leads 9, 10, 11 to the heater and cathode are sealed through the end 4<1> of the tube 4. In another arrangement the metallic tube is formed by an extension of the cathode, and is provided with narrow slits to prevent conduction of heat. A pump connection may be provided on the pinch. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a valve in which the end of the vitreous tube forms the pump connection and the leads are taken through the side of the tube. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
