Abstract
445,287. Discharge apparatus. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. Oct. 4, 1934, No. 28449. Convention date, Oct. 7, 1933. [Class 39 (i)] [See also Group XI] In an electron-discharge device, particularly one suitable for operation with short wavelengths, a plurality of high frequency carrying electrodes or their high frequency carrying leads are arranged concentrically and are sealed in a structure of ceramic material. The concentric leads may also act as supports for the electrodes. Fig. 2 shows a thermionic valve comprising an anode 1, grid 2 and a " doubleprism " cathode 3 consisting of two groups of three filaments in parallel joined at the far end so as to be self-supporting. The leads 4, 5, 6 to the cathode and grid are concentric tubes and are sealed through a ceramic base 7. The leads may be molybdenum tubes made by riveting from sheet metal, the overlapping portion being cut away where it passes through the seal, as shown in Fig. 3. The cathode may be indirectly heated. All the electrode leads need not be concentric, for example, the grid and cathode leads may pass through opposite ends of the device. Specification 445,285 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes also the sealing of supporting means for the electrodes through ceramic material in a concentric manner. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
