Abstract

426,612. Thermionic valves. COMPAGNIE GENERAL DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL, 79, Boulevard Haussmann, Paris. Nov. 14, 1934, No. 32816. Convention date, Dec. 9, 1933. [Class 39 (i)] A demountable continuously - evacuated valve has a grid which consists of individuallytensioned parallel wires arranged in two parallel planes one on each side of the cathode. In one form, a metal casing 1 comprises two opposing anode faces secured to an intermediate metal member and each water-cooled. The joints between each anode and the intermediate member may be water-cooled from the same, or a separate, system. The cathode 4 consists of wires individually tensioned by springs located in a water-cooled body 41. The wires are secured to terminal members 5, 6 mounted on leads 7, 8, 9, 10 which are secured to metal members 11 cemented to insulating bushes 12. The bushes are cemented to the envelope 1, directly or through a member 13. The grid consists of tungsten wires 14 mounted in the same way as the cathode and lying in two planes parallel to the cathode and anode surfaces. Insulating-screens 16 are provided. A vacuum gauge may be connected at 19.
