Abstract
424,877. Door and gate fasteners. COPE, J. C., 62, Upper Chorlton Road, and GARDNER, S., 233, Rye Bank Road, Chorlton - cum - Hardy, both in Manchester. Nov. 22, 1934, No. 33561. [Class 44] A fastener for doors, gates, window frames and the like has two jaws 1 shaped as shown in Fig. 3, working on pivot pins 2 on a plate 3 attached to the door frame or other member, and held in their normal position by plate springs 5. The pin 8 is carried by the door, and as this closes, the pin forces the jaws 1 apart and passes into the rear space 12 between them. To retain the parts in this locked position a bolt 13 operated by the handle 13<x> is moved into the forward space 11 between the jaws. The bolt may be enclosed by a cover plate 10 and the jaws may be controlled by a spiral spring or by pieces of rubber. The jaw 1 may be made of sheet metal with flanged edges.
