Abstract
428,373. Stays; fastenings. TAILBY, N., Spon Lane Mills, Houghton Street, West Bromwich. Nov. 8, 1933, No. 31056. [Classes 44 and 65 (i)] A stay and fastening for windows comprises a peg c fixed to one of the relatively movable members (the fixed frame in the form shown) for engagement by a catch f pivoted at j to the other member (the sash in the form shown), the catch f having a recess g, of U -shape in plan, at one end in its lower part and a stay or handle k pivoted to the catch on an axis l at right angles to the catch pivot and formed with holes m for engagement with the peg c to hold the window in adjusted open position. In closing the window, the handle k is held at right angles to the window so that the gap g in the catch f passes over the peg c, and the handle and catch are then turned to lie parallel to the window so that any movement of the window brings the side wall of the gap g against the peg ; the arrangement may be such that the catch bears against the peg during fastening to draw the window tightly closed.
