428,105. Stays. HOPE & SONS, Ltd., H., and SAINSBURY, G. W., Halford Works, Smethwick, Staffordshire. Jan. 24, 1934, No. 2462. [Class 65 (i)] A stay for a metalframed window comprises a bar d pivoted at one end to the sash g and carrying at the other end a headed peg or roller e adapted to slide or run in a slot c in the frame f, the stay-bar and slot being arranged so that both are concealed when the window is closed, and the slot being formed with an enlargement j, to enable the peg or roller e tc be withdrawn to allow full opening of the window, and with one or more lateral recesses k which engage the peg or roller to prevent movement of the latter in the direction for opening of the window but allowing closing of the window without manipulation of the stay. In a modification, the stay is pivoted to the fixed frame and the slot is formed in the sash. A metal strip h is preferably provided on the hidden side of the frame member f to cover the slot c and protect the pin or roller e.
