[Class 44.] A sliding-window a is retained in any position by wedge strips e on one or both sides of the window, pressed out by springs h and engaging a similar groove in the frame c. The bars are withdrawn by separate handles or by a central handle. The bars are secured to the sash by links which are inclined either downwardly on both sides or in opposite directions, and the link pivots may carry the operating-handles.
